I was asked to make the Christmas decoration for one of my favorite shopping centers in Helsinki, Kämp Galleria. The Gracia area in Barcelona has a party every august, where the citizens decorate the street with their neighbours. The installations are very massive and impressive, but this simple fringe decoration that was moving with the summer breeze, stuck in my mind. Music was playing in the background and people were happy enjoying each other’s company.

I wanted to bring this personal summer memory to the darkest moment of the Finnish year and hopefully create something that makes people feel joyful and festive.

This was one part of Kämp Gallery Christmas by Tero Kuitunen. I created window display for 10 Finnish fashion and lifestyle brands. I wanted to continue the same theme of fringes but make the color palette and style stand out.

I wanted to make something big colorful and fun. The main focus was on the children but I hope this also resonated with the adults. To create consistency, I focused on large, colorful elements repeated around the space, creating an interesting and fun environment.
